Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat Review – Pro’s & Con’s

Only recently have thermostats become so “cool” that consumers actually enjoy talking about them. It wasn’t that long ago that they were even referred to as “wall acne” and go back a couple years ago and ask an Interior Decorator their opinion of the thermostat. Times have changed and this is a direct result from the new technologies available to our consumers.

Here is a quick review of the Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat:

Pros

~This thermostat contains many ways to conserve energy and cut down your utility bill.

~This programmable thermostat leads you through some simple questions to adjust to your lifestyle and save energy when heating or cooling is not required. (Smart, flexible scheduling)

~If you want to set the schedule yourself it can be easily overridden for vacations and programmable holidays.

~WiFi Smart has a sensor that displays the humidity percentage for both inside and outside. This helps in planning your day

~The thermostat is compatible with two stage heating and cooling systems. It also takes into account the amount of time/energy needed to reach a certain temperature using the smallest amount of energy possible.

~An orange alert button will notify you when your A/C or furnace is malfunctioning. The display also alerts you when you need to change the air filter.

~Very mobile friendly, an app allows you turn temperatures up or down from anywhere in the world on your tablet or smartphone.

~The display is larger than others allowing for easier touch screen commands and the display can be customized to your colour scheme in the room. There are plenty of background colours to choose from and you can also adjust the brightness and shade of the individual colours. The display screen can also be locked.

~It also has a voice command feature that allows you to easily change the temperature from your couch. “Hello Thermostat, make it cooler”

~4 out of the top 10 best ranked thermostats are made by Honeywell. They have been in this business for a long time and know the ins and outs.

Cons

~Only offers a 1 year warranty.

~Does not have motion sensors to initiate heating or cooling once you enter your house.  Applies only if outside of your regularly scheduled time.

~It comes with a booklet that is titled “Talking with Your Thermostat” which sounds easy but can be a little hard to navigate through and learn.

Overall the Honeywell WiFi Smart thermostat is an incredibly efficient programmable thermostat and will save you money throughout the course of the year. The voice activation commands are an interesting/intriguing touch but ultimately are up to the consumer to use. If you want your thermostat to blend in with your decor, this might be the one for you.
