Insulation conserves cool air!

Insulation is important in the summer, too.

During the winter months, we tend to worry about heat retention. We want to keep warm and we don’t want to pay a lot to do it.

During summer, on the other hand, we don’t worry as much. The truth is, proper insulation is just as important during the summer months as it is during the winter.

Here’s one quick question to prove its worth: Do you leave your windows open when you are running your air conditioner? Of course you don’t! Leaving your doors and windows open would just be throwing away your money as all of the cooled air escapes your home.

So why do we allow the same amount of air to escape due to poor insulation?

Good insulation means that you will end up putting less money into your home cooling system. It also means that your home will stay cooler, longer. The better your insulation is, the cooler your home will stay with the minimal amount of energy. It is important to check insulation levels in drafty areas as well as your roof and attic. While you’re planning your home renovations this summer, make sure to check your home for any drafts and plug them with fresh insulation. Also replace old, worn down insulation to keep your home as efficient as possible.

Another thing to do, if you have the budget, is make sure you install energy efficient doors and windows. Even though the initial expense can be a little high, double paned window will save you a lot of money in the long run. Good windows will better insulate your home as well as increase your home’s overall value.
