Five Hole For Food! BEER, HOCKEY and FOODbank
June 6, 2014
If you happen to be a fan of your Canadian NHL team going to the 2014 Stanley Cup Finals then you may NOT enjoy this event. However, if your Canadian NHL hockey team has been knocked out of the Playoffs (everyone in Canada) than look no further! Here is the event to be frantically excited for and release that dreary “my CDN team got beat out” depression. Start growing your freshly or not so freshly shaved playoff beard again!
Next Friday is sure to be a riot, well… hopefully not a full fledged hockey riot! However, these match ups are intense, and could cause bedlam in Uptown Waterloo. Let’s take a look at some of the breakdowns:
- TD Bank vs BMO – Someone is sure to get their pockets picked in this battle
- Wilfrid Laurier University vs University of Waterloo – This rivalry has gone on for decades
- Beertown Public House vs Brick/Waterloo Brewery Co – A couple sloppy giveaways could just decide this game
- Miller Thomson Lawyers vs Cowan Insurance Group – The winner of this game decides who has the better industry rapport
- City of Kitchener vs City of Waterloo – What’s at stake? How about Waterloo defending it’s home town pride and thousands of local fans at the Uptown Waterloo Square Gardens
Can you believe that is just 5 of a projected 14 games scheduled that day!?!? That deserves an OMG!
With things sure to heat up early in the day, the crowd can be assured that there will be lots to calm there emotions and keep themselves in check. Waterloo Brewing Co, Block 3, SteamWhistle, and Mill St will be there to provide refreshments to replenish your electrolytes lost throughout the day! Food, refreshments, entertainment and many other festivities will be going on during the day to keep you busy in between the action. When the players and fans become a little too intense and heated, they may find themselves enforced to a couple of minutes in “The Frosty Hogg Penalty Box” where they can just chill out!
As the one and only Don Cherrey says… “And kids… Don’t NOT do this on the ice and remember to bring food items for The Foodbank!’ That’s right… He actually did say say that at some point, well he has mentioned all of those paraphrased words at some point in his life, so in essence it is like he has said this. Quote unquote! This is what leads to the most important part of “The Show,” The Foodbank. Yes, that’s right folks, they want to raise over 40,000 pounds of food for The Foodbank of Waterloo Region and why not! Direct donations of money and non-perishable food items will always be welcomed to help reach the goal.
So… stop shaving and start training for the regions first ever corporate ball hockey tournament on Friday June 13th from 10am to 10pm at the Uptown Waterloo Square Gardens! Click here to start the Smack Talk!
